Capricorn

Capricorn is a single bedroom adobe dwelling designed to house an internal composting toilet. The chamber to house the composting chamber is designed to serve the double function of keeping the composting chamber at a reasonable operating temperature during the winter months (especially important in colder climes) and serving as a small conventional greenhouse. Should a flushing toilet be required a plan modification is included which also enables an increased greenhouse size. There is provision in the bathroom for a washing machine and trough, but the pantry could be used as a laundry instead. Window area on the South side are kept to a minimum. The total floor area is 99m². General construction notes are available at extra charge. A 2-3 bedroom version is in preparation.

Plans include: floorplan, slab plan, roof plan, elevations, sections, specification sheets which include timber sizing for up to wind category N4. The slab plans offer alternatives for different soil classifications. General construction notes are also provided.
